AFIT instructor receives regional teaching award

5/25/2011 - WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio

A member of the Air Force Institute of Technology instructor cadre here was recently honored by the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education for "Faculty Excellence in Teaching."

Lt. Col. Joseph B. Skipper, Ph.D., was recognized by SOCHE during the council's 2011 Annual Award ceremony held April 15 at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

Colonel Skipper has been an Assistant Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at AFIT's Department of Operational Sciences since 2008, and is currently program chair of the Master of Science in Logistics graduate program, as well as instructor for several graduate level logistics courses. He was nominated for the SOCHE award based upon strong department and student ratings and for his award winning research.

Dr. Skipper's research article entitled "Minimizing Supply Chain Disruption Risk through Enhanced Flexibility" was chosen as the Outstanding Paper Winner at the Emerald Publishing Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2010, by the journal's editorial team and his "Managing Supply Chain Disruptions" received the 2010 Best Paper Award from the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management.
