Dr. Anthony N. Palazotto, Professor of Aerospace Engineering in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Air Force Institute of Technology’s Graduate School of Engineering and Management, has received a three-year research grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research amounting to more than $300,000. The research will be directed toward the understanding of the wear phenomenon that results from friction distribution characterized by the high speed test facility at Holloman Air Force Base. The facility carries out experimentation at ground level considering the aerodynamics at maximum speeds of Mach 10. Dr. Palazotto will attempt to understand the affects of surface friction at these high velocities.
