AFIT Alumni and Faculty Receive AF STEM Awards

Seven AFIT alumni and one faculty member were honored at the Air Force Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Awards banquet on Sept. 23, 2009. The ceremony was held at the U.S. Air Force Academy in conjunction with the first Air Force Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Conference.
Air Force Outstanding Scientist Awards:
- Mid-Career Military Category
- Capt. Cole Gulyas (MS, Operations Research, 2005) of the 83rd Fighter Weapons Squadron from Tyndall AFB, Fla.
- Senior Military Category
- Lt. Col. Mark Foringer (MS, Aeronautical Engineering, 1994) of the Air Force Directorate of Analysis, Assessments and Lessons Learned at the Pentagon.
Air Force Outstanding Engineer Awards:
- Mid-Career Military Category
- Capt. Jason V. Paul (MS, Electrical Engineering, 2007) of the Air Force Institute of Technology from Wright-Patterson AFB.
- Senior Military Category
- Lt. Col. Stephen R. Pratt (MS, Computer Engineering, 1999) of the 36th EWS.
- Mid-Career Civilian Category
- Dr. Yong C. Kim, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Air Force Institute of Technology.
- Science and Engineering Educator Award
- Lt. Col. Adam MacDonald (PhD, Electrical Engineering, 2006 and MS Electrical Engineering, 1999) of the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, Calif.
- Air Force Science and Engineering Award Engineering Achievement
- Maj. Jay Kucko (PhD, Applied Physics, 2005 and MS Nuclear Engineering, 2000) of the Air Force Technical Applications Center, Operating Location GT at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Colo.
Air Force STEM Award:
- Gen. Lester L. Lyles Developmental Planning Engineer of the Year Award
- Mr. David L. Owen (MS, Computer Systems, 1983) of the Air Force Materiel Command Alternate Space Control Center at Wright-Patterson AFB.
