On 30 January 2009, the Air Force Institute of Technology School of Systems and Logistics (AFIT/LS) Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program Management Team provided a Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program Management Review of the HAF Directorate of Transformation’s Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support (HAF/A4/7).
The Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio program management review was presented to the HAF/A4/7, Mr. Michael Aimone, SES, principal Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program sponsor and the USAF Board Member to the OSD/ATL Human Capital Strategy Executive Steering Group. Also in attendance representing HAF/A4I, Mr. Grover Dunn, SES, was Col. Donna Moerschell, Deputy Director of Transformation (HAF/A4I) also under the Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support.
Presenters were Ms. Carla Oyer, Chief, AFSO21, Training and Education and Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Action Officer, Transformation Management Division (HAF/A4ID) of the Directorate of Transformation and representing AFIT/LS & LSA, Mr. Kevin Dewey, (Ctr) PESystems, Inc., Program Manager and Senior Logistician for the Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program.
The Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program Management Team acts as the primary focal points for the development, implementation, deployment and execution of a comprehensive digital storage and retrieval system of USAF sustainment and logistics education and training. The Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program Management Team consists of five dedicated contract support personnel located at AFIT/LS in the Department of Business Operations and Management (AFIT/LSA) located in Research Park, Kettering, OH.
Ms. Oyer, along with Mr. Dewey’s support, provided a Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio orientation that highlighted: the Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio program to date, portfolio objectives, Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio approach(es), implementation and execution plans, relationship(s) to the DoD Human Capital Strategy logistics career field and their work force categories, technical competencies, and certification program plans. The presentation also addressed the Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio database functionality and utility along with the recently deployed semantic search and analysis software enhancement capabilities.
Mr. Dewey provided a live Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio functional capability demonstration with new database functions delivered using the Web under the Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Administrative Management and Analysis functions. The participants received an executive-level overview of how this USAF program capability could fit into a DoD enterprise environment. The results would yield a global logistics course management portfolio database that is accessible anytime, anywhere and anyplace.
The Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program Management Review closed with an informative Questions and Answers session which was well received with numerous post-briefing side bars. Of significance was the focus of the possibility of the Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio Program model as a DoD enterprise application with options for inclusion of all DoD Life-Cycle Logistics education and training resources as well as their management processes integrated into the Sustainment Curriculum Portfolio architecture and framework.
